In autumn we have less sunshine. Some days can be very windy and wet. Many trees, like the horse chestnut, the beech, and the oak lose their leaves. The leaves turn yellow, red, brown and gold.
Swallows and cuckcoos leave Britain for warmer countries. They return in spring. Squirrels and hedgehogs prepare their homes for a long winter's sleep. The apples , pears and plums are ripe in the orchards. They are ready for picking. In Autumn farmers are very busy clearing the fields and getting them ready to plant next years crops.
